OYO SPEAKER REACTS TO ORIIRE KIDNAPPING, QUESTIONS POSSIBLE TERMS OF NEGOTIATION WITH TERRORISTS

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has strongly reacted to the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, describing the situation as deeply troubling and demanding urgent and decisive action.

In his remarks, Ogundoyin raised critical questions about the possibility of any state government acceding to the demands reportedly associated with terrorist groups. He queried whether any governor would agree to conditions such as the payment of ransom, provision of weapons to criminals, or concessions that could influence future laws of the land.

According to him, the gravity of such demands underscores the dangerous dimensions of insecurity confronting the country and the difficult choices authorities may be forced to confront in efforts to secure the release of abducted victims.

The Speaker emphasized the need for a firm and coordinated response from security agencies and government institutions to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and to prevent further deterioration of the security situation.

He also called for strengthened security measures across vulnerable communities, stressing that the protection of lives and property must remain a top priority for all levels of government.
